Environmental Museum in Polizzi Generosa
The Environmental Museum of Polizzi Generosa, also known as MAM, is the first museum of Sicilian ecology. It is based in a wing of the Notarbartolo Palace, located in the Piazza d'Armi of the old castle in the town of Polizzi Generosa.
Founded in 1990 by Dr. Vincenzo Cannata, the museum exhibits embalmed specimens of fauna still present, endangered or already extinct in the area of the Madonie Geopark. The stuffed animals are presented to the visitor in their natural habitat faithfully reconstructed thanks to videoramas. It should be remembered that the stuffed animals presented come from ancient collections or recently died of natural death or kindly donated by the local forest with which he has collaborated for years.
