Voyage pittoresque des Isles de Sicile, de Malte et de Lipari is the most important work dedicated to these regions in the eighteenth century.
The manuscript was written by the painter, architect and engraver Jean Pierre Laurent Hoüel during his trip to Sicily from March 1776 to June 1779.
It contains a considerable number of drawings which represent precious documents for archeology as well as being true and his own works of art.
Seven are the subjects of the city of Centuripe which are translated into engravings a few years later and published in the third volume of the Voyage pittoresque.
The works are now in the Museum Hermitage in Saint Petersburg.
