The legend of the one hundred horse chestnut explains the origin of the name of the thousand-year-old chestnut of Etna Park.
Legend has it that during a nocturnal hunt, Queen Joan of Aragon together with her hundred knights on their horse found shelter under the large branches of a large tree, now known as Castagno dei Cento Cavalli, during a storm on a stormy night.
