Legend head of the hanged man

In Milazzo there is a place known as the "Head of the Hanged Man" where the legend is intertwined with a news story that really happened in 1817.
It is a tongue of rock located in Capo Milazzo, at the foot of Monte Trino. In this place in 1817 the Neapolitan pirate Aniello Cuomo was hanged and beheaded, guilty of numerous crimes and raids in the waters of Milan. At the end of the execution, as a warning to the other criminals, his severed head was brought and displayed on the stone pillar that still today dominates Punta dell'Impiccato. ghost of Aniello Cuomo still wanders today, without the head, inside Villa Vaccarino which stands not far from the place where the severed head was exposed and which is believed to have been in the place where the execution took place.
