Legend of Sirina stream

The Sirina river, between Giardini Naxos and Taormina, is known for the echoes produced by the waters that have given rise to a myth.
It is said that, on full moon nights, from the banks of the Siphon river, better known as the Sirina stream, you could hear the melodies of the sirens who tried to attract passers-by towards the waters of the Sirina. One night of full moon some local girls, attracted by the silvery reflections of the moon and by the soft voices, went down towards the stream and never returned to the city. The inhabitants say that even those young girls were transformed into sirens and that even today, on nights of full moon, it is possible to listen to their song.
