Many views of Palermo, such as Ballarò market or Mondello beach, are recognizable in the film "The mafia kills only in summer".
La mafia kills only in summer is a 2013 film directed and starring Pierfrancesco Diliberto, better known as Pif, and written by himself with Michele Astori and Marco Martani. In the cast Cristiana Capotondi:, Claudio Gioè and Ninni Bruschetta.
It is a dramatic comedy that through the childhood memories of the protagonist, Arturo, reconstructs, in often paradoxical and ironic tones, the bloody season of the criminal activity of Cosa Nostra in Palermo and tells of a city devastated by the terrible mafia attacks and by the hood that the mafia mentality spreads over society.
The film was shot entirely in Palermo: Palazzo Comitini is the building where Arturo interviews General Dalla Chiesa, the Ballarò market is the place where Arturo records his service before his interview with Salvo Lima, the Maria Adelaide Institute is the institute where Arturo goes, Albergo delle Povere is the building where Fra Giacinto practices his profession, Mondello beach is the beach where Arturo goes after finishing the school year.
