Santa Margherita del Belice is known as the city of the Leopard, where Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa lived and drew inspiration
Palazzo Filangeri di Cutò is in fact known as Palazzo del Gattopardo and is famous for being a source of inspiration for the writer Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa who lived in this building for many years of his childhood. He spent the summers of his childhood here, in the years between 1905 and 1914, and this palace remained imprinted in his mind to the point that he used it as a model for the "Leopard" Palazzo di Donnafugata.
Other related place to the famous novel "Il Gattopardo" is the garden located on a lower level than the Palazzo Filangeri di Cutò. This is the place, which remained quite faithful to how it must have appeared at the time, where the writer walked and imagined many of the scenes that will be described in his masterpiece.
