Feast of Santa Agrippina in Mineo

The feast of Saint Agrippina in Mineo takes place every year in the month of August and in the month of January when the Patronage of Saint Agrippina over the city of Mineo is celebrated on the day of the terrible earthquake in Val of Noto.
The highlights of the festival are: the spectacular procession of the statue of the Saint, the pilgrimage of the naked, the parade of horses and carts and the traditional homage of wheat.
The procession of the statue of Saint Agrippina above the artistic fercolo through the main streets of the village takes place on the morning of the first Sunday of the holiday and on the evening of the second Sunday of the holiday, the eighth. The procession is accompanied by the shooting of fireworks and the throwing of leaflets.
On the Saturday preceding the second Sunday of celebration, the generation after generation celebration takes place. The Nudes walk along the main streets of the town carrying the image of St. Agrippina in one hand and a bunch of flowers in the other and, raising their arms, they shout: "Long live our Patron Saint of St. Arpina."
On the morning of the second Sunday of celebration, the parade takes place with horses and carts and the traditional homage of grain to the Patron Saint during which the streets of the village are filled with horses, mules with carts which in procession carry full saddlebags to the Patron Saint of wheat.
During the celebrations, various folkloristic events and musical performances take place in the square.

During the month of May the festival of the translation of Saint Agrippina takes place which includes a rich religious program.
