 Ustica (PA)

The island of Ustica is a protected nature reserve: it is characterized by luxuriant vegetation which, especially in spring, creates a splendid contrast between the colors of the flowers and the black soil of volcanic origin.
The reserve covers almost all the reliefs mountains that have been reforested on the north side and the downstream area where the characteristic dry stone walls and strip terraces are found.
The area of the reserve includes the remains of the two main sub-aerial volcanic buildings of the island, Monte Costa del Fallo, in which two eruptive centers are still recognizable, and Monte Guardia dei Turchi, the highest relief on the island which was to constitute the main volcanic building, and the two coastal areas of Punta di Megna and Punta dello Spalmatore.
