Tabaccara in Lampedusa
The Tabaccara a Lampedusa, located on the southern side of the island, is a unique place in the world : the transparency of its waters is such as to have earned it the nickname salt water swimming pool. Together with the nearby Spiaggia dei Conigli, they form a large bay with crystal clear water, with a transparency that is unique in the world. This stretch of coast, which also includes the nearby Tabaccara beach, is in fact known as the bay of flying boats because the sea that bathes it is of such a brightness and transparency that, seeing the bay from the cliff, the water seems not to be there and the boats that stop appear as if suspended in the air.
