Church Madonna del Tonnaro in Castanea delle Furie

Church of the Madonna del Tonnaro is a small church that rises a few kilometers from the center of Castanea, on a rocky hillock overlooking a vast panorama. In the distance, you can see the Sanctuary of Tindari, from which the church takes its name: "U Tunnaru" is a dialect word for "Tindari".
The church dates back to 1500, the year in which a certain Pietro Costa donated the territory on which it was built.
The church has a simple architecture: four walls with a vaulted roof, a door and an arched window, the work of devoted local masons.
The devotees flock there every year for the feast which is celebrated on September 8th.
