Augusta: the country of poetry

Augusta, Frederick's city par excellence, which will be the home of poets and verse lovers, has been chosen to become the new "Village of Poetry", where poems are used as street furniture, emphasizing the particularities of the place.
The new poetic steles in lava stone will therefore be located in Augusta, which will reproduce the lines of the winning poems of the competition. Through the figure of Frederick II, who was the first creator of a poetic movement in Italy, that of the Sicilian School, and whose presence is still witnessed, centuries later, by the built works (first of all the Swabian castle, symbol of the city), the history of the place is linked back to its origins, recalling the dawn of Italian poetry, to welcome the new voices of today's poetic landscape.
