San Rocco Church in Pietraperzia

The Church of San Rocco in Pietraperzia is dedicated to the patron saint of the village and stands on the main square.
The date of construction of the church is not known, the first news attesting to the existence of a sacred building in this place date back to 1635, the year in which the church, originally dedicated to the Immaculate Conception, was named after San Rocco, proclaimed patron saint of Pietraperzia, replacing San Nicola di Bari, and was honored with the Sacred Relics of San Rocco. The neoclassical style façade is organized on two superimposed orders on which a triangular tympanum stands. On the first level there is a portal with a round arch flanked by pilasters surmounted by an entablature and tympanum. On the second level there is a window also with a round arch. The building is flanked by a bell tower.
The interior consists of a single rectangular room dominated, in the back wall, by the niche with the simulacrum of the Patron Saint.
Among the works kept in the church of particular value they are the wooden sculptures of San Sebastiano and the Immaculate Conception of late medieval workmanship.
