Celebrations in honor of Maria Montisclari Madonna of Montechiaro
The Feast of the Madonna del Castello in Palma di Palma di Montechiaro takes place on the Sunday following Easter: according to an ancient ritual, at dawn hundreds of faithful, barefoot, go to the castle to collect the fascinating "Madonna di Montechiaro" , sixteenth-century marble statue sculpted by Antonello Gagini. The statue is crowned and taken to the city, where a solemn procession unfolds. The statue is then exhibited for a week in the Mother Church and for another 3 in the church of the Benedictine monastery. On the Sunday before the Ascension it is brought back to the Castle chapel, where it is kept for the rest of the year.

19:30 Arrival at the Mother Church: “Enthronement” and Solemn Holy Mass
