Feast of San Vito in Chiaramonte Gulfi

The Feast of San Vito in Chiaramonte Gulfi takes place every year in August and includes a rich religious and recreational program.
San Vito Martire is the Patron Saint of the city of Chiaramonte Gulfi and solemn celebrations are organized every year in his honour.
The festivities begin a few days before the big external party and open with the placement of the simulacrum on the baiard in the presence of the bearers, a traditional rite that is repeated with the same phases from year to year, and the solemn procession of the eighteenth-century simulacrum of San Vito and the Holy Relic.
The triduum of preparation for the feast follows with a rich religious programme.
On the feast day, in the morning, the blessing of pets takes place and of affection. In the afternoon we witness the descent of the simulacrum of San Vito from the high altar and the offering of the Traditional Cero. The festivities reach their climax with the solemn procession of the Simulacrum of San Vito. Late at night, at the end of the procession, the fireworks display marks the end of the festivities.
