Festa Santi Fratelli Martiri ad Acireale

The Feast of the Holy Brothers Martyrs in Acireale traditionally takes place in the month of April-May and includes the peregrinatio of the reliquary busts of the Holy Martyr Brothers Alfio, Filadelfo and Cirino coming from the Sanctuary of Trecastagni.
In on the occasion of the celebration, a dense religious program takes place which culminates with the solemn exit of the Simulacrums of Saints Alfio, Filadelfo and Cirino in the Piazza del Duomo.

19:30 Holy Mass presided over by Don Orazio TORNABENE, Director of the Diocesan CARITAS of Acireale.
The confraternities and lay associations of the Basilica of SS will participate. Apostles Peter and Paul and the brotherhoods and lay associations of the city of Acireale.
At the end blessing with the relics of the SS. Martyr Brothers.

Solemnity of the ASCENSION into heaven of Our Lord Jesus Christ
The Basilica will remain open all day to allow devotees and pilgrims to pay homage to the Simulacrums of the Holy Martyrs solemnly displayed with prayer.
11:30 Holy Mass. At the end blessing with the relics of the SS. Fratelli Martini of all mothers, expectant mothers and children on the occasion of Mother's Day 2024.

13:00 Traditional bell ringing on the solemnity of the Ascension.
19:30 Holy Rosary with the recitation of the litanies of the holy martyr brothers.
20:00 Holy Mass presided over by Don Orazio BARBARINO. The liturgy will be animated by the Cappella Musicale San Sebastiano Martire of Acireale directed by M° Ezio Tosto and M° Carmelo Falcotti.
At the end the simulacra of the three Saints will be moved to the churchyard of the Basilica where the Cantata in their honor composed by Monsignor Antonino Maugeri. Blessing with the Relics and return to the Basilica.
The simulacra will remain exposed up to the octave in front of the altar dedicated to them in the Basilica.
