Festival of Rural Traditions in Makari

Once upon a time Makari - Festival of rural traditions is an event that aims to recall the ancient traditions, culture and crafts of Makari, a small and charming hamlet of San Vito Lo Capo. The culture and the typical culinary and artisanal features of this village are enhanced which, until the seventies, based its economy mainly on agriculture and manufacturing crafts.
During the holidays, a market exhibition is organized dedicated to ancient craftsmanship, from carpets to tatting artefacts, from objects made of straw or olive wood to the manual repair of nets. tasting stands of typical local products are set up, from pane cunzato to cassatelle cu l'occhi, a typical product of Makari, to almond sweets.
Musical and cultural shows are also organized during the event and entertainment related to the area.
