Festival of the Scaccione in Monterosso Almo

Festival of the scaccione of Monterosso Almo takes usually place every year in September in the splendid square of San Giovanni. The "scaccione" or "scacciuni" is a typical product of Monterosso Almo, it is a reinterpretation of the classic seasoned scacciata, traditionally cooked in a wood oven and served with numerous and tasty fillings.
In Piazza San Giovanni two stand, each equipped with a wood oven, where almost two thousand pieces of scaccioni are mixed, prepared and baked, seasoned with typical local products. Typical is the scaccione seasoned with the "capuliato", that is the chopped dried tomato, oil, oregano. All this is accompanied by good local red wine from the Monterosso hills.
