Mother Church in Casteldaccia

The Mother Church of Casteldaccia, dedicated to Santa Maria Immacolata, is the main building of worship in the city.
It was built in 1746 at the behest of the Marquis Lungarini as the ancient Church of the Rosario, located next to the castle, was too small for the country's growing number of faithful. The date of construction of the church is engraved on the inscription of the Lungarini family coat of arms placed inside the church below the central window.
The façade, in neoclassical style, is divided into two orders. The contrast between the white of the plaster and the brown of the local stone used in the parastras and cornices stands out.
The interior, with a single nave, is embellished with valuable frescoes.
