The Sicilian cart is the best known and characteristic object of Sicilian folk art. The Sicilian cart was born as a means of transporting goods and people and has now become a vehicle for cultural transmission. On its various parts, through sculpture and painting, moments from the history of the island were represented. Initially the drawings represented sacred themes and were made as a form of protection for the chariot, but over the years the repertoire has been enriched with new themes due to the influence of the storytellers, who went around Sicily narrating about knights and loves, and thus the stories of the paladins appeared. The colors used in the Sicilian cart also tell about Sicily: yellow, red, green, blue predominate, that is the colors of passion, the Sicilian sun, sulfur, oranges and lemons, of the sky and the sea.
