Granita with Zuccarata
Granita con la Zuccarata is one of Savoca's gastronomic traditions. It is a reinterpretation of the famous “Granita con Brioche” in which the brioche is replaced by a biscuit typical of the Savoca pastry tradition: the Zuccarata. The Zuccarata is a biscuit made with very crunchy and flavored shortcrust pastry, sprinkled with sesame seeds that give it a unique texture. According to tradition, the Zuccarata, in order to be enjoyed, must be soaked in granita.
