Granita has been the typical breakfast of Sicilians since ancient times, especially in the warm months of the coastal areas. The rite of granita is today experienced by Sicilians as a moment of communion and social relations, a tradition of taste that has its roots in the Arab domination, which then evolved, especially on the eastern side of the island, into a refined and inimitable confectionery product. which he acquires, as he travels along the coast, certain aromatic variations. The Sicilian granita consists of a semi-frozen grainy liquid based on water, sugar and extract of the main ingredient (lemon, pistachio, coffee, strawberry, almond, chocolate, peach, jasmine, mulberry ...). It is almost always tasted together with the classic brioscia con tuppo, prepared with yeasted egg dough.
