Calvary Church in Linguaglossa

The Church of Calvary in Linguaglossa is a small building of worship where the rites of Good Friday take place.
It was built at the end of the 17th century and was initially also dedicated to San Pasquale Baylon.
The building , located on a raised floor above street level, is accessible via a large staircase. The simple rectangular façade, punctuated by two pairs of pilasters, has a single portal surmounted by a lunette window. Above, the bell tower concludes the façade.
The interior, with a single nave, has a single altar.
Among the works kept inside the church we remember: two orange wood sculptures , the Addolorata and the Dead Christ, works from 1875 by the sculptor Lio Gangeri; the coffin of Christ and the Fercolo dell'Addolorata dating back to the mid-nineteenth century, works by the local carver Antonino Puglisi; the canvas The mystery of redemption, a work from 1863 by A. Attinita.
