Madonna del Tindari Church in Sant'Alfio
The Church of the Madonna del Tindari in Sant'Alfio is a small religious building located in the Nucifori district. Nucifori represents one of the first residential areas of Sant'Alfio, it already existed in 1600 and takes the name of the Nucifora family who first inhabited it.
In this place the devotion to the Madonna del Tindari has always been deeply felt to the point that In the past, some local inhabitants went every year on foot on pilgrimage to the distant Sanctuary of Tindari. Thus, a small altar dedicated to the Madonna del Tindari was initially erected, and in 1957, with the participation of the entire population who granted the building area free of charge, purchased the material and worked free of charge, the church was built.
The church, simple in its architectural structure, is entrusted to the protection of the residents.
On the first Sunday of September, the procession of the bust of the Madonna del Tindari, kept inside the church, takes place.
