Ancient Toy Exhibition in Polizzi Generosa
The Ancient Toy Exhibition exhibits about 40 pieces from the collection of the Noblewoman, Painter, Francesca di Carpinello. The exhibition is located in the rooms of the ancient municipal library of Polizzi Generosa . Most of the exhibits date back to the 19th and 20th centuries. Among these are rocking horses, dolls, Sicilian carts, piggy banks, boxes in the shape of vases and buses, monkeys, dolls, rag dogs, iron bikes, chairs and tin machines. We also point out the presence of numerous models of furniture, which cabinetmakers and carpenters used to present to noble clients in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries before their construction, these were then used as toys by the scions of noble families. The exhibition presents interesting examples of local and foreign craftsmanship.
