In the city of Leonforte some of the most iconic scenes of the film "La bella società" were shot.
La bella società is a 2010 film directed by Gian Paolo Cugno, starring Raoul Bova, Maria Grazia Cucinotta, Giancarlo Giannini, Enrico Lo Verso and Simona Borioni, set between Sicily and Turin.
The film tells the story of two brothers Sicilians are forced to go to Turin because one of the two has to undergo a delicate eye surgery. Once there, however, they meet a beautiful and charming girl, who completely upsets their lives.
The scenes shot in Sicily had the cities of Calascibetta, Leonforte, Assoro, all cities of the Sicilian hinterland as set.
One of the most iconic scenes of the film was shot at the Granfonte di Leonforte: it is the place where Romolo, played by Raul Bova, informs Maria, Maria Grazia Cucinotta, about his intentions to take her to Rome. Another scene was shot at Lake Nicoletti, in the Leonforte area, a place frequented at an early age by Giuseppe, Giorgio and Nello.
