The singer-songwriter Franco Battiato chose the Castle of the Slaves as the set of the music video “Shock in My Town”.
The 1998 song "Shock in My Town" is about a degenerate society, returned to its primitive state due to excessive use of technology. Franco Battiato chose to shoot the scenes of his music video in the Castello degli Schiavi di Fiumefreddo because he was fascinated by the suggestion of the castle's underground rooms. In the video Battiato wears a samurai suit, his crew consisted of 20 people and the shooting lasted 2 days.
