The Almond Blossom Festival is a large international festival held in Agrigento at the beginning of March and aims to celebrate the arrival of spring with the re-blooming of the almond trees and to rejoice in the return of life. During the festival it is possible to watch performances by folk groups in the city streets, folk music shows and many typical Sicilian tastings. The city of Agrigento and the wonderful Valley of the Temples are the setting for the events together with the flowering almond trees.
Among the most evocative moments of the Mandorlo in Fiore event are the lighting of the Tripod of Friendship in front of the temple of Concordia, which as tradition will kick off the festival, the torchlight procession of friendship, the parade of folk groups with Sicilian carts up to the Valley of the Temples.
The festival ends with a colorful show at the foot of the Temple of Concordia, in front of the Temple of Hercules, however, you can attend the award ceremony of the Golden Temple, a highly coveted prize awarded by an international jury to the best folk groups.
