Feast of Saint Joseph in San Biagio Platani

The Feast of Saint Joseph in San Biagio Platani is a moment rich in devotion and tradition.
The celebrations take place in the month of March, between moments of faith and recreational moments that involve the entire community, and culminate on the day of the liturgical celebration, March 19, when, during the morning, the three Saints, or three people who represent Jesus, Joseph and Mary, knock on the houses of several people who refuse to give them hospitality, as happened on the Holy Night in the hotels of Bethlehem, until they find a family that will welcome them. The three Saints will then participate in the Holy Mass and will subsequently be hosted and will consume, under the eyes of the population, a rich lunch. The three Saints are traditionally represented by an elderly man, a child and a girl, chosen among the neediest people. In the afternoon, the procession of the Simulacrum of San Giuseppe takes place through the streets of the town, at the end of which the cannistra are donated to the three Saints, that is, traditional wooden constructions decorated with flowers, fruit, chocolate and monetary offerings.
