Feast of San Sebastiano in Maniace
The celebrations in honor of San Sebastiano in Maniace take place on January 20, on the occasion of the liturgical feast, and, traditionally, on the following Sunday on May 17.
The procession takes place on the occasion of the patron saint's feast of January 20 of the relics with the torchlight procession, the blessing of the panuzzi of San Sebastiano, the solemn procession of the simulacrum carried on the shoulders by the naked.
On the occasion of the May feast a solemn procession takes place, several times , throughout the day. The streets of the historic center of the town are colored red because red cloths are displayed on the balconies of the houses, as per ancient tradition.
Dates and Scheduling
18 May 2025
08:00 Festive bell ringing and cannon shots announce the feast day.
10:30 Offering of wax from the Abbey of Santa Maria di Maniace to the bridge and return to the church.
11:00 Solemn Holy Mass presided over by the parish priest.
12:00 Triumphal exit of the Simulacrum of San Sebastiano;
fireworks and start of the procession along Corso Giorgio Maniace, Corso Fondaco, Mother Church.
13:30 Stop at the mother church.
17:30 Resumption of the procession: Corso Margherito, Corso Cavallaro, Corso Galatesa, Corso Petrosino, Piazza S. Gabriele.
19:00 Holy Mass.

19:30 Resumption of the procession and stop on the parvis of the mother church where there will be a pyro-musical show offered by the municipal administration, return from the main avenue that leads to the Abbey. Fireworks and solemn Vespers.
