Sicilian Granita Festival - Nivarata in Acireale
La Nivarata, the international Sicilian Granita festival, takes place every year in the splendid setting of the city of Acireale. On the occasion of the event, tasty tastings and show cooking are organized with illustrious guests and industry experts. Numerous other events, such as entertainment shows and live music, are organized during this gastronomic event.
The name nivarrata comes from the term nivaroli, men who in ancient times preserved the snow in natural ravines called neviere and then reused it in the summer period for food preservation and for the preparation of sorbets, ice creams and, of course, granita.
