Harvest Festival in Cianciana
The Harvest Festival in Cianciana traditionally takes place at the end of July and celebrates the ancient grains, cereals and legumes of Sicily.
This festival has ancient origins and is linked to an ancient pagan peasant festival during which the population thanked Demeter, Mother Earth, for the abundance of the harvest.
On the occasion of the food and wine event, along the streets of the town, fires are lit on which large pots filled with chickpeas, broad beans and wheat are placed. Tasty and traditional dishes are then served, together with good local red wine, to all those present.
During the event, folk groups, music and dances will create a great festive atmosphere throughout the streets of the village.
