Cosaruciaru bean from Scicli
Agricultural Product
The Cosaruciaru bean from Scicli is recognized by its white-cream color with small brown streaks around the hilum. Its name in dialect means "sweet thing". Its cultivation dates back to the early 1900s, when the cosaruciaru, also called "casola cosaruciara", had its weight in the local agricultural economy. Today it has almost completely disappeared and only some loyal farmers have grown it in their own gardens to offer the possibility of eating it in a good vegetable soup or with pork rinds.
