The Cassibile strawberry, the Camarosa strawberry, is characterized by being particularly sweet and with an intense pulp, characteristics that make it an excellence of the Sicilian gastronomic tradition.
These delicious red fruits in the Cassibile area are produced in abundance. The fields chosen for cultivation are open and limited in size. The type of soil present in the area is rich in mineral salts and iron which, together with the action of particularly sweet irrigation water, give the Cassibile strawberry its very sweet taste. The cultivation of the Camarosa strawberry follows typical methods that the Sicilian tradition has been able to protect up to the present day. The harvest, managed in this way, reaches its peak between March and April.
The Strawberry Festival, between the end of April and the beginning of May, celebrates the goodness of the fruit and all derived products.
