Festa di San Giovanni Battista Aci Trezza

The feast of the Patron Saint of Aci Trezza, San Giovanni Battistista, is held usually in the month of June.
Traditionally, the feast begins on June 23 with the Eucharistic celebration on the vigil and the procession of the Sacred Relic through the streets of the town.
On 24 June, the day of the liturgical anniversary, the solemn unveiling of the venerated simulacrum of the Patron Saint is held, the folkloric parade through the historic center of Acitrezza and the famous pantomime of the “u pisci a seas”. This is followed by the triumphal exit of the simulacrum of San Giovanni Battista from the churchyard of the Mother church, for the start of the procession through the streets of the town which will end in the late evening with the fireworks display and the return to the church.
The following day is the day of city devotion, which begins with the solemn Eucharistic celebration animated by the Confraternity of Saint John the Baptist. In the evening, a new triumphal exit of the simulacrum of San Giovanni takes place, starting the procession through the streets of the town which will end in the middle of the night with the closing artistic fireworks display and the spectacular entrance into piazza del fercolo.
