State: CT - Area: Catania and Etna
Aci Trezza is a small village on the Ionian coast, a center of ancient fishing tradition and a setting for the "Malavoglia" of Verga.
It was founded at the end of the seventeenth century as a maritime landing place for the fief of the nobleman Stefano Riggio from Palermo. It is the place where Etnean eruptions began before the eruptive theaters moved westwards.
Aci Trezza is today the heart of the Riviera dei Ciclopi with its beautiful cliffs, its splendid seabed and its marvelous Faraglioni.
