Festa di San Michele a Caltanissetta

The feast of San Michele Arcangelo in Caltanissetta, Patron Saint of the city, is celebrated every year in May, on the occasion of the anniversary of the apparition of the Saint, and on September 29, the day of the patronal feast.

The religious program culminates with the evocative procession of the simulacrum carried on the shoulders of the barefoot faithful preceded by children wearing the saint's costume. In the days of the fets, the traditional Fiera di San Michele also takes place, which in ancient times took place before the new plowing of the fields.
