Sagra delle nespole a Calatabiano
The Calatabiano Medlar Festival celebrates medlars, a fruit whose production in the area reaches 800 tons a year.
On the occasion of the gastronomic event, numerous stands are set up where it is possible to taste this sweet fruit and the many products prepared with it: preserves, jams, liqueurs, ice cream...
Stands are also set up for tasting other local products and craft stands.
The festival is organized within the celebrations for St. Philip the Syriac.

3 May 2025
17:00 Inauguration of the 41st Calatabiano Nespola Festival, with ribbon cutting and opening of the stand in Piazza San Filippo.
Tasting of the typical artisanal Nespola ice cream and visit to the stands with exhibition of local agricultural and artisan products.
17:45 Educational, artistic and motor workshop for children on the history and culture of the Calatabiano medlar, curated by the Alkantara Sport Academy association.
18:30 Music, songs and acting on inclusion, by the Choir of the Macherione Comprehensive Institute.
At the same time, Aperitif at the Nespola, organized by the Calatabiano Youth Council.
19:30 Singing Competition "Second Edition of IO Canto Caltabiano" to celebrate Sicilian culture, music and traditions with the participation of artists from the area and in collaboration with the Association The Wall. During the show, the winner of the competition "Your creativity our symbol" will be awarded for the creation of the logo of the youth council of Calatabiano.

10:00 Parade of the Sicilian Caretti of the Spiraglio Association.
10:30 XXV Extemporaneous Painting inspired by the culture of Calatabiano on the theme "Traces of art between History and Landscapes". Realization of the works in the streets of the historic center.
11:00 Opening of the Stand of the 41st Calatabiano Nespola Festival. Preparation of the Calatabiano Nespola Risotto, in collaboration with the local Chefs and local associations.
11:30 Educational, artistic, motor workshop for children on the history and culture of the Calatabiano medlar, in collaboration with the Alkantara Sport Academy association of Calatabiano.
13:00 Tasting of Calatabiano Nespola Risotto.
16:00 Reopening of the Stands, start of the Show Cooking in Piazza San Filippo by the Calatabianesi Master Pastry Chefs for the preparation of the traditional cake with medlar custard, in collaboration with the local producers' associations.
18:30 Augurary Cutting of the Calatabiano Medlar Cake, prepared by the Calatabiano Master Pastry Chefs and subsequent tasting.
Awarding of the 41st Silver Medlar by the Municipality of Calatabiano in recognition of those who have distinguished themselves over time in the work, social, artistic and cultural fields for the benefit and prestige of the Calatabiano community. Awarding of the winners of the impromptu event.
19:00 Orchestra Jakaranda in concert - Popular Musical Show to celebrate Sicilian traditions in collaboration with a group of young musicians from the Associazione Musicale Etnea.
