Balate of Pollara in Salina
The Balate di Pollara, in Salina, are ancient shelters for fishing boats entirely dug into the rock of the cliff. The Balate can be reached by sea or via a suggestive stone staircase.
Near the Balate there is the Spiaggia di Pollara. The only way to reach the beach is by swimming starting from the Balate or by boat, since access by land is no longer possible due to a landslide. The beach of Pollara is made up of large pebbles among the rocks and is set inside a cliff in the shape of an amphitheater.
A little further on is "il Filo di Branda", the overhang tallest and most imposing on the island.
