Hermitage of Santa Sofia Arrassu in Sortino
The hermitage of Santa Sofia in Rassu, so called because it was built outside the town of ancient Sortino, already existed before 1693.
The hermitage is a pilgrimage destination for the inhabitants of the town as it is believed that in Saint Sophia found refuge in these places during the period of persecution.
Near the church there is a well of water that popular devotion considers miraculous against all diseases.
Cells used to be used adjacent to the church by pilgrims who wanted to retire in spiritual exercises.
