Things to do, attractions, interesting facts

Bisacquino

Area: Selinunte and Belice Valley

Bisacquino represents one of the most important centers of the Palermo hinterland thanks to its cultural and architectural wealth.
The original nucleus of the village was founded by the Arabs in the year 840, and still today it presents an urban conformation of an Islamic imprint with narrow and winding streets, courtyards, alleys, arches and fountains.
It was later under the rule of the Normans and reached its maximum splendor at the time of Spanish rule when the village became the home of illustrious families and was embellished and enriched with monuments and churches . In fact, Bisacquino boasts 18 churches, one for each district, some of which are characterized by elegant and particular bell towers.
