Joppolo Jancaxio is a small village located in the upper Akragas valley, in the Agrigento area.
The first inhabited center was born as a fiefdom with the title of barony of the noble Calogero Gabriele Colonna Romano, Duke of Cesarò, who in 1696 obtained the licentia populandi and had the first buildings of the village erected.
Today, the inhabited center develops at the foot of the Rocca del Duca, around the Castello dei Colonna.
