Area: Cefalù and Madonie
The village was born in the 12th century as a Saracen and then Byzantine farmhouse. In the seventeenth century it reached its maximum splendor, it was enriched with a monastery, a Benedictine convent and at least three churches.
Today the village of Montemaggiore Belsito jealously guards the monuments and works that bear witness to its rich history.
