The first information on the village dates back to 1098 when the toponym Chiminna appears for the first times in documents written in Greek. The current inhabited center was founded by the Normans, between the 1400s and 1600s the village was enriched with churches and convents endowed with numerous and precious works of art, which earned the town the nickname of Palermu lu nicu, or Little Palermo.
The beauty of the landscape and the wealth of monuments and works of art make Ciminna today a place of notable artistic, historical and landscape interest.
