Roccapalumba is a small village that rises close to the Sicani Mountains, in the upper valley of the Torto river, surrounded by woods and dominated by a rugged cliff, the Rocca.
This small village was founded in the 17th century by Princess Maria Anzalone Orioles, and was recognized as a municipality in the 18th century, thanks to the initiative of the Prince of Larderia Don Francesco Moncada.
Roccapalumba is the Land of stars: given its strategic geographical position, it was chosen as the site of a very modern astronomical observatory which every year attracts amateur astronomers, scientists and the curious from all over the world.
The excellent food product of this area is the prickly pear.
