Forza d'Agrò is a small village that retains a clear medieval layout with its houses leaning against each other in narrow alleys. The village is dominated by a castle of which you can still admire imposing vestiges today.
The village was once called Antico Casale di Agrilla, later modified into Forza d'Agrò which is believed to derive from the contraction of the word "fortezza" (fortress).
The town is known for having been chosen as the set of some highly successful films, such as the award-winning Francis Ford Coppola.
