Casteldaccia

Area: Palermo surroundings

Casteldaccia is a picturesque village located on the Tyrrhenian coast not far from the Sicilian capital.
Its history begins in 1737, the year in which the Marquis of Lungarini Ignazio Vincenzo Abate bought the lands, the watchtower, the beam and the few houses located in Castellazzo. According to tradition it was not possible for the Marquis to immediately found a town because the nearby Marquis of Altavilla hindered him fearing the supremacy of the nearby feud. Only after the sale of some lands to his neighbor Marquis, did he obtain the royal license to found Castel d'Accia, which later became Casteldaccia.
The village is characterized by narrow streets and houses typical of the Sicilian tradition.
It boasts splendid beaches, an appreciated wine tradition and is a renowned producer of Sicilian pastry.
