Acquaviva Platani

Area: Central Sicily

Acquaviva Platani is a village in the Sicilian hinterland that rises along the valleys of the Platani river.
The history of this village is very ancient, the first traces attesting to the presence of man date back to prehistoric times. The Romans first passed through these lands, and then the Berbers, who arrived from north-western Africa, who founded the Miknas farmhouse here. In the Middle Ages, the farmhouse became the Fief of Michilese and, in 1635, Prince Francesco Spadafora founded the current town.
