Milena. City of Robbe
Things to do, attractions, interesting facts
State: CL - Area: Central Sicily
Milena is a small village in the Sicilian hinterland, rich in history and culinary traditions.
It is a young town, having been an independent municipality only since 1923, but it boasts ancient origins. Its territory has been inhabited since ancient times: the finds discovered testify to the presence of human settlements dating back to the Neolithic era, the Copper, Iron and Bronze Ages. The Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs and Normans also passed through these lands. The birth of the first residential areas dates back to the end of the nineteenth century when the ecclesiastical assets were confiscated by the State and thus the territory of Milocca, which belonged to the Benedictines of San Martino della Scala of Palermo, became property of the city of Sutera. This sold the new lands to its inhabitants, so the guardians and farmers built their homes here. Thus the Robbe were born, the first urban agglomerations of Milena.
