San Cono

Azotoliquido - CC3.0

San Cono stands on the Erei mountains, at the foot of Monte San Marco, surrounded by fertile hills and rows of prickly pears.
Originally it was the ancient feud of Dainamare and Santo Cono, then passed under the property of the most famous Sicilian families, and finally to the Marquis of Floresta who brought it back to life in the eighteenth century with plantations and intensive crops.
There are many valuable buildings, witnesses of its historical events, which enrich the artistic heritage of this town.
San Cono is surrounded by expanses of vegetable gardens, orchards, vineyards, almond groves, and prickly pear rugoli. It excels in the production of agri-food products.
The production of the Prickly Pear of San Cono DOP has given it the title of capital city of the prickly pear.
